Support for the Establishment of Vocational Training Center in Northern Bosnia
The project addresses the shortage of skilled labour in key industries in the North-East Bosnia region, one of the main reasons for high unemployment and low productivity, thus contributing to economic growth, empowering youth and women, as well as reducing risks of conflicts.
The key project goal is the establishment of a functional vocational training centre in the town of Gradačac, providing opportunity to train adequate labour force in auto-motive industry that will be employed by private sector.
Results achieved thus far include:
- Vocational Training Center premises rehabilitated as joint investment between UNDP and the Municipality of Gradačac
- 18 high-school graduates trained in Bursa Chamber of Commerce Training Center and employed by companies in Gradačac as CNC operators
- 10 trainers trained in Bursa Chamber of Commerce Training Center for delivery of CNC operation and programming training
- 51 people trained/upskilled within local companies in Gradačac based on the Bursa training model
- 20 CNC operators and programmers trained in the first training cycle in the VTC in Gradačac in 2020
- Second round of training for additional 20 CNC operators and programmers initiated in July 2021
- STEM education introduced in 4 primary schools which were thus incorporated into the network of 23 schools in BiH that introduced technical education for the youngest generations with the assistance of UNDP
