Social Protection and Inclusion (SPI)

UNICEF supports local and cantonal authorities to establish permanent multi-sectoral platforms for cooperation between various social sectors.

UNICEF is partnering with local governments (32% of local governments across the country included so far) under the Social Protection and Inclusion model, through signing MoU and direct engagement with local and cantonal authorities with a purpose of joint evidence-based action planning, implementation and monitoring of social protection and inclusion.

In parallel, UNICEF supports local partners to identify gaps in social service provision for the most vulnerable groups and provides seed funding to initiate establishment of new social services. The model works at the policy level (through establishment of local Commissions for Social Protection and Inclusion) and technical level (through establishment of Referral teams in charge of case management) as well as social service delivery.
