Wastewater Zenica (WWZE)

The Wastewater Zenica project aims to protect the water quality of the Bosna River and to improve the living conditions of the population in Zenica as well as in downstream localities.

The Project foresees the establishment of the collection, transmission and treatment of municipal wastewater of Zenica in an environmentally sound and hygienic manner and at affordable costs. It also includes achieving the commercial sustainability of the Water Utility within a functioning and adequate institutional and regulatory framework and contribution to a sustainable and green urban development. Additionally, The Project includes the construction of a wastewater treatment plant and necessary measures for the municipal wastewater network. It also includes rehabilitation and extension of the sewage network and main collectors. New bike lanes will be constructed or similar integrated urban development measures implemented. The Project will ensure a sustainable wastewater collection and treatment in Zenica. It will strengthen the operational and management capacities of the water utilities to be able to operate the new wastewater treatment plant in a sustainable manner.

Project is in a preparation phase (2018).
